1. Walnut and Garlic spread

This delectable recipe will raise spirits around the dinner table and it’s not hard to see why. It can be served as an entrée before a main meal or as a hearty feast itself. To start, blend cream cheese, blue cheese, butter, garlic, parsley and walnuts in a food processor to form an even mixture. Then, add a generous spoonful of your mix to a bunch of crostini biscuits and then bake in the oven at 180°C for five minutes. Serve warm and watch as they all disappear.

2. Almond cake

There’s never been a more important time to spoil your family with healthier comfort food. That’s why this delicious almond cake is high atop our list of recipe ideas to follow while stuck at home. You’ll need a few staple ingredients, such as butter, eggs, sugar, orange zest and marzipan, along with almond extract, ground almonds and a handful of roughly chopped Almonds. Mix and stir everything together and then bake in the oven to bring this scrumptious creation to life. Not an almond fan? You can always use Pistachios!

3. Date, Walnut and Pecan loaf

Baking is a great way to keep busy during the downtime and will yield wonderful results for the whole family. For this recipe, you’ll be using walnuts for their smooth, buttery taste and awesome crunch, along with Pitted Dates because of their sweet flavour. Bake as a cake or as a loaf, it really doesn’t matter. Just be sure to sprinkle a generous handful of Pecans on top of your gourmet creation and everything will work out perfectly. For bonus points, serve with a pot of tea or coffee and everyone will be more than impressed.

4. Oat-Walnut cookies

Want to satisfy your sweet tooth and feel fuller for longer? These healthy cookies are for you. To begin, add sugar, softened butter, vanilla extract and one egg in a bowl and mix together with a beater until well combined. Add salt, flour and oats before stirring in walnuts and raisins. Divide your mix into tablespoon portions and drop as many as you can fit onto a greased baking tray, one inch apart. Bake in the oven at 180°C for 12 minutes (or until golden brown). Allow to cool and share with the whole gang.

5. Peanut and Sunflower Seed muesli

Perfect for breakfast or as a snack throughout the day, this recipe is a winner for anyone cooped up at home. Simply combine Salted Peanuts, Sunflower Seeds, Sultanas, oats and rice cereal in a large baking dish. From there, melt honey and olive oil in a pot over a low heat to create a syrup and then pour over your nutty mix. Bake in the oven at 180°C for 15 minutes, stirring regularly to avoid burning. Eat with almond milk or yoghurt and top with fresh fruit for extra flavour. This winning recipe is great because you can make a lot in advance and store for weeks on end in an airtight container.

Tip: this muesli can be eaten as a pre or post workout snack, if you’re looking to exercise at home.
